Client Update - 2023 Q1: Meet our clients! The Footballers of AceBoy Sports Group

What’s up everyone!

For this week’s edition, I’m going to talk about the footballers we currently represent at AceBoy Sports Group in what I’m envisioning as a new series. I’ll be providing an update on each of our clients every quarter so you can stay updated on their progress. This won’t be something completely overbearing and intrusive of them, just where they are playing currently, how they’re getting on, what we have planned etc. I haven’t yet written about my clients, so it is about time!

Amar Lewis

Position - Midfielder

Age - 23

Club - St. Margaretsbury FC

Amar signed on with us in October 2021 when he was first with Harlow Town FC, who play at Step 4 of the English National League Pyramid. Amar currently plays for St. Margaretsbury in Step 5, where he joined over the summer from Coggeshall Town FC with one of his former Harlow Town coaches. While this might seem like a step down in club level (only slightly if at all), Amar is playing more frequently and is enjoying his football, which is the most important thing for us and himself.

Amar enjoyed a promising 2022 summer preseason, where he was invited to trial for a month with a Step 3 club. Luckily for us the manager was very honest and upfront, and wanted to send Amar to a ‘feeder club’ of sorts at Step 4, so that he could stay in their consideration for the season in the hopes of trialing again in the summer of 2023. Unfortunately the club in question was not a doable journey for Amar with his university schedule being quite demanding, so wanted to try to find a closer, more local option, thus landing at St. Margaretsbury.

With vast experience in the non-league system having played across Steps 3-5, Amar is a tenacious midfielder who excels with the ball at his feet. While he flourishes as more of a box-to-box, he is comfortable playing further forward in midfield or even sitting slightly deeper. He definitely performs to his best ability in a side that like to have possession and utilize their midfield, which is something we are hoping to find as the season progresses and in the off-season.

Ryan Lopes

Position - Attacking Midfielder/Winger

Age - 21

Club - Hartley Wintney U23s

Our most recent signing, Ryan joined us in December 2022 and is currently playing with the U23s squad at Hartley Wintney, who play at Step 3. We’ve only been working with Ryan for not even two months yet, and we are already excited for his future. He is definitely one to watch and keep an eye on, and is almost destined to turn fully professional in the coming seasons. As long as he keeps his sights set on the goal (pun intended) and keeps working hard as he has been doing, he will be just fine!

An exciting and electric athlete, Ryan is a player who excels in the forward positions, most notably just behind the striker in the hole or on the wing. It’ll be interesting to see how he develops as the years go on, and even though he’s been dealing with a small knee injury, we are confident he will continue his upward trajectory. Over the rest of the season, Hartley Wintney will be keen to see what he can do in a first team setting, so hopefully this will culminate in a loan or call-up, only time will tell.
