In this week’s edition of Learning The Venture, we’re going to take a look at how the transfer portal, along with NIL has impacted college basketball and recruitment amongst some of the most prestigious university basketball programs in the United States.

I can’t think of a better time to talk about this; Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese look right at home after making their WNBA debuts, following what will go down as an historic 2024 March Madness, particularly for the women’s game.

Ever since the University of South Carolina (women’s) and University of Connecticut (men’s) were crowned champions in early April, the transfer portal has been in full swing. Plenty of noteworthy names still in college have entered the transfer portal, putting their sporting and commercial futures up for grabs in what should be an interesting off-season.

Now, let’s get stuck in!
