We're getting into motorsports! AceBoy Sports Group is now an official team sponsor!
Hey everyone,
I hope you all had a great week and are looking forward to enjoying an even better weekend! Unfortunately, still no update on the next Bermuda Basketball League season as of yet. As you will know I was hoping to know more for this post, but not to worry, I will keep you all informed of the company’s plans going into next season! As always, a big welcome to any new readers that are here today, I welcome you to subscribe for free to the Learning the Venture and join our roster!
Before we get into our exciting news, we have some more exciting news that I’d like to share. I want to give a special shout out to our very own Quinaceo Hunt, who has been called up again to represent the Bermuda Men’s National Team in their upcoming group stage matches in the CONCACAF Nations League! We wish Nace and the rest of the Gombey Warriors all the best and we will be rooting for you! Now, let’s get stuck in…
I am very happy to announce that we have expanded our sponsorship efforts into the wonderful world of motorsports. As of this past week, we were announced as sponsors of Aeziah Divine, a Bermudian junior road racer who for the 2023 season will be competing in the Moto 5 Class in the MIR Racing Finetwork Cup in Spain. This is an important step in the young athlete’s career, with this being premier category of transition between karting and circuit. Of the current pilots in the world championship, 80% of them have passed through and continue to use this platform as part of their training.
Who is Aeziah Divine?
Only just 13 years old, Aeziah has already accomplished quite a bit in his sport, and through his dedication to his craft and determination to develop, we know he has a lot left in the tank (yes, pun intended). In his first year of competitive racing in 2017 he became the BMRA Junior Minibike Champion and in 2018 he competed in his first international races with M1GP in the USA. In 2020, as part of the Metrakit 50 class he made his debut in the FAB-Racing Minibike British Championship, and in 2021, his second season in the championship, he placed 6th overall in the season with his highest race finish being 4th. The 2022 season was spent between Bermud and England, where he prioritized training and more specifically, getting used to full-size race bikes in preparation for the 2023 season.
Why motorsports?
As you will all remember from our Pipeline Series (this can be found on the dashboard for any new subscribers), we classified motorsports as a sport we eventually wanted to break-into, either through athlete representation or sponsorship. The opportunity presented itself for the later almost a year ago now, after I had a chat with Aeziah’s dad, Ephraim Divine. We connected over LinkedIn and quickly organized a call to discuss what we were both doing with our respective businesses/projects at the time. We spoke of Aeziah’s progress to date, and I just have to say that Ephraim and his wife embody (in my opinion) what the parents of an aspiring professional athlete should be. They know his sport inside and out, understand what he needs to progress, and are setting him up for success in multiple way. Hats off to them!
The idea of sponsoring a motorsport athlete has always been an attractive prospect for ABSG, and when the opportunity arose to join the Aeziah Divine Racing Team, it was something we couldn’t pass up. Motorsports (of all variations) are not only very popular worldwide, but also in Bermuda, which aligns with our goal of being involved in sports that are more so part of Bermuda’s sporting culture than others might be. Sponsorship within motorsport is unique, by this I mean that when you sponsor a “team” you sponsor the “athlete” and vice versa. To be part of this team going forward is very exciting, and to watch this promising athlete continue to develop is a bonus!
What this means for ABSG
As part of the sponsorship agreement, our logo will be present on both Aeziah’s race suit and bike (which I think is gonna look pretty cool), and will be visible on various social media posts. This will increase our visibility to Aeziah’s following, which includes a mix of a Bermudian and international audience. This is something that is once again right in-line with our current goals and objectives - to be seen as a Bermuda-based sports management company, with a shared local and international presence.
As our foray into sponsorship is still relatively new, only sponsoring our basketball team that competes in the Bermuda Basketball League, and assisting with the Bermuda Red Cross Golf Tournament, to sponsor an athlete is a great step in the right direction for us within this vertical. This will also be a fantastic learning opportunity for ABSG - we’ve only really been involved in basketball and football, and to a smaller extent, rugby. To learn more about motorsports is going to be beneficial for us both now and in the long-term.
If you’d like to follow Aeziah’s journey, you can follow his social media accounts and visit his website below!
Thanks for reading this week’s edition of Learning the Venture, and please consider following Aeziah on the above platforms!
Also, if you’re looking for some football to watch during the international break, consider tuning into Bermuda's matches against Guyana and Haiti in the CONCACAF Nations League and support our Gombey Warriors and our own #AceBoyAthlete, Quinaceo Hunt!
Until next week!
Peace,
Jason
