HOOPS Review - Game 7: Reapers vs The Chosen Ones
What’s up everyone!
I’m hoping you enjoyed your weekend, and happy Hump Day!
I’d like to apologize firstly; after my bold prediction of finishing the season 5-5, that will no longer be possible. Unfortunately, we lost our first game back after the holidays to the Chosen Ones 60-42, really bad. Jericho and Napthali both had 15 and 9 points respectively, and I was able to contribute 5. It was our first game without Jadon, and Karim was also unavailable. Jorel was also still nursing his ankle injury so he played no more than 15 minutes in the whole game.
What didn’t go so well…
This one was bad on our part. The first half was lackluster at best and we didn’t defend with any intensity and missed too many easy looks. We struggled on the boards without Jadon and Karim, getting out-rebounded by 23-16. The Chosen Ones made their buckets too, with Mykal pouring in 28 points. This team is also one of the older teams in the league, bar probably two players on the roster. We needed to be more aggressive and run the floor more against them, but we just didn’t capitalize on the opportunity. What’s more frustrating is that we had such a dominant win before the holidays, which was down to our energy and effort. We need to maximize that next time out or it’s going to be a rough few games to end the season. Just not a good day at the office whatsoever really.
What went pretty well…
To be fair, we did pull ourselves together towards the end of the 3rd quarter and throughout the 4th quarter, but by then it was just too late. The defense was more energetic and we were a lot more focused on offense. Once we started to move the ball a bit more and be more decisive, the offense was clicking for us. The first half was unfortunate, we missed easy shots and didn’t settle into a tempo. But we did come out firing in the second half, particularly in the 4th quarter. It’s unfortunate for us that once again we let ourselves down in a game we probably should’ve won, or at least made way more difficult for our opponents.
What to look forward to next game…
Next week we play the Young Goatz, which is going to be another tough match up for us. I’ll be pretty confident if we start the game off with the same energy that we ended with in this one.
Sorry this one wasn’t as detailed, just wasn’t a lot to go off from such a bad game!
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this mid-week review, look out for the next edition on Friday!
Enjoy the rest of your week!
